19 Dems oppose public option covering cost of abortion

Got home late last night from a democratic club meeting I was speaking at in some small town outside of the city. but for whatever reason this group made me feel incredibly patriotic. I think I even dorkily began my speech with "Thank you for your citizenship." Just that they all came together in this temple in this dirt covered town where they were clearly a minority and they were meeting to try to change the state of the country. They were an older bunch but spunky the way I like 'em. Someone brought brownies and one guy stood there contemplating one while another guy stood waiting. Finally the guy waiting said, "There's no marijuana in there." Also I had a tough act to follow to discuss healthcare after another woman who had written a song about volunteerism. She explained, "This song goes to the tune of a song most of you might know that goes I want a girl, just like the girl that married dear old dad." or you might have heard the other version, " I want a beer just like the beer that pickled dear old dad."" She sang her own song about volunteerism while doing that Shirley-Temple-arms-stiff-hands- sticking-flat- out- shuffle dance.
God the were so fun and spunky. But they were informed too. One of the members raised the question as to whether or not it was true she had heard that some democrats were opposing the public option covering the cost of abortions. I told her I would look into it and got home to find the article I linked below that sites 19 democrats signing off on a letter to Pelosi rejecting the public option covering the cost of abortion. The names of the senators are there if you would like to contact them.
Driving home I looked out and saw a serene sunset surrounded by lakes and mountains and got to listen to "The Story" on NPR. Not a bad night at all.

Andy Stern and Walmart?

While driving into work this morning I heard that SEIU president Andy Stern and Walmart CEO were in the news again. I looked over at my flyer depicting the massive discrepancy between employee and CEO hourly wages.
SEIU has been targeting this CEO on the Employee Free Choice Act Campaign and here it was. Well it turns out that they signed a letter to the president in support of healthcare reform. Andy Stern stated that he thinks everyone should have healthcare and let's face it folks any victory for the workers at Walmart is a big victory for all working people!
I've attached a copy of the letter for your review.
